The Corniest Valentine's Day Ever

So this year I decided to take corny to a whole new level for Valentine's Day. It's funny - I cringe at all the commercialism around Christmas (and any other holiday), but when February 14th rolls around, I'm ALL about it. I know, I know - "You should show so-and-so how much you love them every single day." Blah blah blah. I do. And so does he. But there's nothing like the nostalgia of candy hearts and Valentine's cards, and if it's between a pathetic excuse for hating Valentines Day and buying into the whole thing... well, I'll take the box of chocolates. And I'll eat every last bite.

About a month ago, I came across a cute little DIY blog called Mud Pie Studio. The blogger had some cute (and cheap) ideas for Valentine's Day, and I couldn't resist. :) Here are 101 Valentine's Ideas under $5:

Tad and I were going to go away, and then decided to just stay in town and go out for a nice dinner this coming weekend - but I couldn't wait until then to celebrate. So I whipped up some snacks, packaged them up in pink and red, and Roscoe and I were off to visit "Daddy" at work. Needless to say, he now has a complete stash of junk food for the office.

Here are some of the reasons I love Tad so much:

Reason No. 17: He's brave. (No, seriously. He's kind of a badass. :))

Superhero Tootsie Pop? Awwww yeah.

Reasons 2 and 389: Because I'm "nuts" about him. And he "cracks" me up.

Reason No. 3,457: I have a serious "Crush" on him.

Reason No. 108: He's sweet. HUGE shout-out to Six Sisters' Stuff for sharing their Butterfinger Blondie recipe (recently floating around Pinterest), especially since it's Tad's favorite candy. Oh my WORD these things are heavenly. Let's just say I have a stomachache from sampling a little too much. :) The recipe can be found here:

And, finally, Reason No. 14: He has a big heart. I had some leftover sugar cookies from making conversation hearts for work, so the purple was unavoidable - but as girlie (and messy! I miss my icing tools!!!) as they are, they'll still be nom-worthy.

Looking forward to Woodberry Kitchen this weekend! We'll save the romance for then. For now, all this cheesy, lovey-dovey nonsense you Valentine-haters love to hate will do. :) Thank you, Mud Pie Studio, for the inspiration and cute ideas. Happy Valentine's Day! <3
